About Warm & Cosy Knits

Meet Samantha, Maker of Warm & Cosy Knits

My name is Samantha, and I am the maker behind Warm & Cosy Knits, a slow fashion knitwear brand based in Christchurch, New Zealand. From my home studio, I create heirloom-quality knitwear using a vintage hand-operated knitting machine, crafting each piece one at a time with care and intention.

Warm & Cosy Knits began as a passion project rooted in a love for traditional craftsmanship, natural fibres, and creating beautiful pieces that last. Every item is fully fashioned and carefully constructed to ensure both durability and timeless design.

A Slow Fashion Approach

Warm & Cosy Knits is intentionally slow. All knitwear is made in small batches or made to order, ensuring nothing is mass-produced and there is no excess stock. This considered approach prioritises quality, fit, and finish, while significantly reducing waste and environmental impact.

By choosing made-to-order knitwear, you are supporting a more thoughtful way of consuming fashion—one that values craftsmanship, longevity, and mindful production over speed and volume.

Crafted Using Tradition Techniques

Each piece is knitted on a vintage, hand-operated knitting machine, allowing for precision, consistency, and fully fashioned garments. This traditional method means the knitwear is shaped as it is made, rather than cut from panels, resulting in stronger seams, minimal waste, and a refined finish.

Every item is finished by hand, ensuring a level of care and detail that cannot be replicated through mass production.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability is woven into every decision at Warm & Cosy Knits. I work exclusively with luxury, traceable natural yarns, including baby alpaca and merino, which are free from microplastics and gentle on sensitive skin.

The combination of natural fibres, fully fashioned construction, and made-to-order production ensures each piece is both environmentally considered and designed to be worn, loved, and passed on.
